Robert Alexa Robert Alexander Wingfield 1925 - 2005


 

Robert Alexander "Bob" Wingfield beloved husband of Beatrice Coleman "Bea" Wingfield went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at their home with his family at 55 Northside Drive, Waynesboro. He was born September 17, 1925 in Waynesboro, son of the late William P. and Lottie Hicks Wingfield. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Guy, John and Ed Wingfield; sisters, Georgie Marvin, Doris Overholtz and Mary Albrecht. He retired from E.I. DuPont in 1984 after 41 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy on the PT Boat 524 "Betme" in WWII. He was a "Charter Member" of the Ladd Ruritan Club of which he dedicated much of his time and efforts. He was an Avid fan of all sports. He coached and started the Little League Baseball teams in the Ladd area, and traveled far and wide to watch his children and grandchildren play. He was a member of Free Methodist Church in Waynesboro his entire life. His last years were marred by the onset of Alzhiemer`s but he lived them to his fullest. Bob loved his family dearly, as he was loved by them all. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Bea; sons, Gary Wingfield and his wife Sylvia, David Wingfield and his wife Joan; Daughters, Jeanie Jones and her companion Raymond Eavers, all of Waynesboro, Vickie Lamons of Miami, Florida currently living at the home, Karen Link and her husband Jerry of Staunton and Angie Campbell and her husband Harry of Churchville sister, Mabel Wingfield of Hanover Park, ILL.; brothers, Rea Wingfield of Baltimore, Md., Henry Wingfield of Waynesboro and Winfred Wingfield of Stuarts Draft; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-granchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The service will be conducted Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Waynesboro Free Methodist Church by Pastor David Kurtz and Pastor Merle Fisher with burial following at Augusta Memorial Park. Stuarts Draft V.F.W. Post 9339 will conduct military rites at the graveside. Active pallbearers will be Scott Wingfield, Joe Wingfield, Andrew Collings, Brad Sears, Doug Lambert, Al McKechnie, Roger Falwell and Nelson Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ladd Ruritan Club and Friends attending the service. The family will receive friends 7 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro and other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation, c/o Valley Program for Aging, P. O.
